Wanda Morlan Eilts was born and raised in West Central Indiana ( a farm girl ) and graduated from Reelsville High School. She is the eldest child of Norma and Carl ( Kenny ) Morlan of Reelsville, Indiana. Her maternal Grandparents were the late Harry and Eva Bond also of Reelsville. Wanda grew up not realizing how much her life would change as she got older. In fact her comments on living in the west are, "If anyone had told me when I was young that I would have had such an interesting life and would be living out west I would have told them they were crazy". In 1967 Wanda left home to attend Florida College in Tampa and upon her return home she found her parents had moved to a small town in central Illinois. This is where she met and later married her husband Terry. Terry Eilts was born and lived in a small town in Central Illinois. He attended and graduated from Hopedale High School in Hopedale, Illinois. Terry is the second child of August H. and Virginia Eilts also of Hopedale. Terry was always the one who wanted to live out west and in 1970, a year after their marriage, they moved to Denver. They remained in Denver until 1979 when they moved to Bullfrog Marina in southern Utah on Lake Powell. They have been in the resort industry since that time working in various positions and progressing to the title of General Managers. Wanda and Terry currently live in Page, Arizona and consider the time they lived among the Navajo the most important event in their lives. Half of all their personal proceeds from the book sales will go toward an educational project for the Navajo children of Monument Valley where the story took place. The couple is available for lectures and power-point presentations promoting the historical and social value of the Navajo culture.
